About the Reign

San Francisco –Emma Marriot, 20, was crowned Miss Asian Global and Jennifer Chung, 21, was crowned Miss Asian America at the 2014 Miss Asian Global & Miss Asian America Pageant held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre in San Francisco.
Emma Marriot hails from Stanford, CA and is ethnically Chinese and Welsh. She is a student at Stanford University, Class of 2016 majoring in Computer Science in the School of Engineering. Most recently, she had the honor of receiving the NSF Fellowship for the 2014 Biocomplexity Summer School and Credit Suisse 2014 IT Women’s Mentorship Program. Her past work experience includes, conducting scientific research at ETH Zurich, Stanford University, and Tsinghua University, among others the past few years. In addition, her dazzling talent performance of Chopin’s celebrated Ballade #1 in G Minor awarded her the Miss Talent title.
Miss Asian America was Jennifer Chung and is ethnically Vietnamese, Chinese, and German, residing in San Jose, CA. She is currently a student at San Francisco State University majoring in Business Administration. She has extensive hands-on experience in business operations, sales and marketing, having started a family business, Forever Beaumore Cosmetics Inc.
Miss Asian California, Arienne Calingo, 22, of Los Angeles is currently a student at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, where she is majoring in Theology with a concentration in Religious Studies with a minor in Arabic and Islamic Studies.
May Ling Phyu, 22, is a current student at San Francisco State University studying Health Education was awarded Miss Asian San Francisco.
Miss Asian Teen, Maggie Schoenholtz, 19, is a 2013 graduate of Palo Alto High School and currently attends Foothill Community College in hopes of transferring to UCLA or UC Berkeley in two years.
Miss Asian First Princess was Catherine Ho, 21, of Las Vegas, NV is currently a student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, majoring in International Business.
Miss Asian Second Princess and Miss Congeniality, Jeni Nguyen, 22, of Greenville, SC is currently a University of South Carolina student majoring in International Relations with a minor in Business Administration.
Miss Asian Third Princess and Miss People’s Choice Sunaina Singh, 24 from Chicago, IL, is a graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and minor in Gender Studies.
Jensine Chen, 20 from San Ramon, CA is a current University of California Davis student majoring in Human Development and Communications, was crowned Miss Entrepreneur.
Miss Photogenic Susan Lin, 24, a 2011 graduate of New York University where she majored in Biochemistry and minored in Anthropology is currently pursuing her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, NY
Tunya Fusapnirun, 17 from Los Angeles, CA is a current student at Downey High School was crowned Best in Ethnic Costume.
In addition, honorary titles were presented to: Miss Scholastic Achievement May Ling Phyu and Maggie Schoenholtz; Miss Women’s Empowerment Jennifer Chung and Jensine Chen; and Miss Community Service Elaine Sung and Catherine Ho.
The competition is one of the longest running Asian American events in the United States. The 27 contestants came from cities all over the world to compete, including contestants from San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Greenville, Tokyo, Anchorage, Rochester Hills, Chicago, and New York.
